SOTA Activation of Mount Herman

Today I wanted to do a Rockmite QRPp activation at 100 and 200 milliwatts but I made a critical error. I hauled up my Rockmites for 30 and 20 meters and forgot how loud the sidetones were. They seemed to be louder than normal. It was not until I was hiking down that I remembered that I was able to control the volume with the audio recorder I use to record my activations. Its ok, I took my KX1 up as a backup radio and enjoyed using it.

The weather was overcast with very mild temps in the high 50s and no wind. It was a great day on the summit. I got a little rain as soon as I got to the saddle and was going to put up a tarp rather than head back down but the rain subsided quickly.

I did not work near the amount of chasers I wanted to due to some QRM but I did work Dave NK0E, Steve wG0AT, Bob K0NR and Paul W0RW. Four great Colorado Hams!

I was also able to squeeze in on Dan's, NA6MG, pileup to work a summit to summit. Thanks Dan.

I took my time hiking down and ran into a few people but Mount Herman was not as crowded as it usually is on a weekend.

I am still learning how to use the GoPro and the GoPro Studio application. The time lapse function is great. I actually thought I would have enough footage to play the activation audio during the video but it compresses the time a lot so I just went with some music.

Thanks chasers:
